Dear Ron My work on the ancient Lincoln diocese for the Leverhulme-funded first stage of the national electronic atlas and database of saints' cults in England and Wales bears out what you say. We also need to take into account the regional hydrographic patterns, I guess, but that's for someone else to discuss.
