The School of Geography at the University of Nottingham is advertising a 

CHAIR IN HUMAN GEOGRAPHY.


The University of Nottingham has an expanding, successful and
well-established School of Geography, rated 4A in the 1995 RAE and
Excellent in the Teaching Quality Assessment. In order to consolidate and
further develop the School's teaching and research activities, a new Chair
has been created in the area of Human Geography, to complement existing
Chairs in Human Geography (Health and Welfare), Physical Geography and
Geographical Information Science.

The School has active research interests in the areas of Health and
Economic Development, Culture and Landscape, Environmental Management,
Geographic Information Science and Process and Applied Geomorphology, with
specific regional interests in Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent
States.

The successful candidate will offer:

*	international recognised research leadership in an area of human
	geography which complements the School's existing research strengths 

*	excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

*	high quality management and leadership skills

Salary will be within the professorial scale, minimum 37,420 pa (with
effect from 1 October 1998).
