       At the outset, apologies for Cross-Posting.

       We have a great pleasure to invite you to submit your research 
papers to the SPECIAL ISSUE ON MANUFACTURING CELLS  in 
 INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS JOURNAL 

Integrated Manufacturing Systems intends to publish a special issue 
devoted to Manufacturing Cells, covering cells utilizing group 
technology principles, computer numerical control (CNC) technologi
, robotics, and flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). Innovative 
theoretical and empirical research papers and cases are invited under 
the following general areas: Strategic drivers for manufacturi
 cells, Methodologies for design, configuration selection and 
economic justification, Implementation strategies and Operational 
issue

Specific article topics may include:
* market and competitive forces motivating the implementation of 
cells
* design for manufacturability in cells
* identification of part families and formation of machine 
cells
* analytical and simulation models for operational evaluation
* strategic/economic justification tools and techniques
* production planning & control issues
* implementation experiences and other organizational issues.

Four copies of  the manuscript must be sent to one of the three guest 
editors. The papers must be original, previously unpublished and not 
currently under review for other journals. The manuscript 
st be received by January 01, 1999. 

All manuscripts should be prepared and will be strictly refereed 
according to guidelines of Integrated Manufacturing Systems 
(http://www.mcb.co.uk/portfolio/ims/notes.htm). Please contact one of
