Greetings! A question has come up that hopefully someone on this list can help me answer. When you see reference in penetential literature to something like "saying three Aves" is the Ave in question simply the short "Ave Maria," (which can be said in a few seconds) or does it refer to a longer devotion made up of many Aves?
