Dear list,

Can anyone help me on find this Augustine quote:

"Oratio namque est mentis ad Deum affectuosa intentio."

I found it in Thomas A. Hand's _St. Augustine on Prayer_ (Dublin: Gill nd
Son 1963) p. 16, note 58, where it is said to come from Augustine's Sermon
9 (de Passione). But I have checked Sermon 9 in PL 38 and have not found
it. I have also conducted searches on the Chadwick-Healey and the Brepols
databases, and, oddly, neither of these have produced the quote. I'm
totally at a loss as to where this sentence comes from, and Brian Stock
and John Rist, our Augustine experts at the U. of Toronto, are not around.
If anyone can help me, I'd be very grateful. Reply private if you wish.

Thanks,

Scott
