Lorna; You may like to look at "I dialoghi mancati" (1988) by Antonio Tabucchi. This work consists of two relatively short, one-act theatrical pieces: "Il signor Pirandello è desiderato al telefono" and "Il tempo stringe". I have used the second of these for teaching purposes and it was very well received by the students. Whether or not these "dialoghi" lend themselves to your analysis of politeness theory I can't say, but they have the advantage of being recent.
