Agreed. It was a standard part of the questions asked of witnesses in canonization 
processes, that the person had to discuss how well known the candidate for sanctity 
(or his/her miracles and good works) was.

The person who could shed much light on this would be fellow list member Michael 
Goodich -- are you reading this, Michael? Can you refer us to any of your books or 
articles?
