A bit on the frivilous side - but possibly not, if you enjoy good
accomodation and food whilst doing fieldwork - I'm starting an accomodation
list / page to be posted on the Mining History Information Pages (URL below).

Send your recomendations - preferable off list - and I'll let you know when
the page is up and running.

My favourite so far is South Hooe Mine, at Bere Ferrers, south of Tavistock
in Devon - excellent food, and capable of dealing with vegetarians -
accomodation is in the old manager's house with the pumping engine house
within yards of the door -and to be woken by the birds on the Tamar at low
tide is magical.
