(Apologies for cross postings) WHY DIGITISE? MANAGING A DIGITISATION PROJECT A WORKSHOP BY THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES DATA SERVICE & LEEDS UNIVERSITY LIBRARY THURSDAY 12 NOVEMBER 1998 CONFERENCE ROOM, EDWARD BOYLE LIBRARY, UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS The Arts and Humanities Data Service and Leeds University Library have arranged a workshop for those in UK Higher Education interested in managing a project in digitisation. The day will not have a specifically technical focus but will be aimed at those involved in planning and managing a digitisation project. The workshop will provide practical guidance by moving through the main stages of project development - from the project's inception through to its execution, maintenance, use and evaluation. Each session will open with an overview of the strategic issues which need to be addressed at the particular stage of the project life-cycle and will be followed by case studies of real and current experience. These will come from all over the UK with a focus on projects within the north of England. The combined effect of strategic with practical experience will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to the design, implementation, long-term maintenance and use of any digitisation project and with a survey of the kinds of digitisation projects which are both possible and widely tried. The workshop will begin with registration at 9:30 and finish no later than 4:30. The cost to participants will be stlg30 (including lunch). If you would like to come along to the workshop please contact Tracey Stanley ([log in to unmask]) for more information or complete the booking form at the end of this message and send to T.
