The aim of this one day workshop is to provide users of the Internet
with detailed information and help on the more important search tools.
Topics will include:
* Introduction to search tools and how they work
* Simple and advanced searching techniques
* How to search for company web pages, individuals, press releases
* How to restrict your searches by date, industry, country, type of
organisation
* Search tools that allow you to search within a set of results
* How to search Usenet newsgroups and discussion lists more
effectively
* Multi-search engines and software (meta tools)
* Virtual libraries and subject orientated gateways
* Intelligent Agents
A significant part of the day will be taken up with practical
sessions. Exercises will be provided but delegates may try out
searches of their own. Delegates should have some basic knowledge of
how to use the Internet and be able to access Web pages. Course
documentation includes a copy of Search Strategies for the Internet,
extended notes and worked examples and a bookmark of relevant sites.
Cost: GBP 140 + VAT (Total cost GBP 164.50) including refreshments
and lunch.
Places are limited to one person per terminal, so early booking is
recommended.
