Compendex to be renewed at EDINA ----------------------------------- The present Compendex Agreement, which started in late 1993, expires on the 5 December 1998. Earlier this year JISC asked CHEST to negotiate the renewal of the Compendex agreement and CHEST has progressed the renegotiation. The renegotiation is now in its final stages and pricing has already been released to existing Compendex sites. In parallel with the negotiations, and in accordance with JISC policy, all the JISC Datacentres were invited to tender for the running of the Compendex service. This tender process is designed to achieve the best service for the community at a reasonable cost. As a result of the tender process EDINA were chosen to run the renewed Compendex agreement and will do so from 6 December 1998. Full details of the new Compendex agreement and transition arrangements will be issued by CHEST (on [log in to unmask], and on the CHEST web site www.chest.ac.uk) as they become available. 3. Special Offer for OCLC's Electonic Collections Online -------------------------------------------------------- This Special Offer for Electronic Collections Online is open to all CHEST eligible sites. These include approximately 400 titles that you can receive for no additional subscription fee if you subscribe to the corresponding print version in 1999. (Your only cost is the access fee described above). Another 600 titles are available as stand alone subscriptions - many at a discount over print.
