We have recently installed a controlled access system in the library at
our main campus whereby students and staff members must present their
library cards to gain entry. What policy do other libraries have if the
library card has been forgotten? Are users able to 'sign in' with
alternative i.d. or must a valid library card *always* be shown even if,
for example, the user has travelled a considerable distance to use the
service?

Please reply direct to me and I will summarize for the list.
