** UK Government education information

The UK Government page in NISS's Education area at:
http://www.niss.ac.uk/education/ukgov.html
aims to provide links to Government information and departments of
particular relevance to the education community. The latest of these
is "The Learning Age", a green paper on lifelong learning, available
from the UK Lifelong Learning site which is a new addition to this
page.
The page itself has been reorganised and expanded slightly to include
links to those reports which are relevant to the shaping of Government
policy, such as Dearing, Higginson and Kennedy.

The jobs section of NISS's Noticeboard may already be familiar to some
NISS Advisor readers, but did you know that you can also find details there
about new further degree courses and vacancies on sponsored courses ? If you
follow the "Research and further degrees" link from Noticeboard's main page,
then the "Further degree courses" link you will arrive at
http://www.niss.ac.uk/noticeboard/jobs/further.html
This "Further degree courses" page provides details of new taught courses -
grouped into eight subject categories - and also includes a section which
offers information about opportunities for sponsored studentships on taught
courses.
Please contact [log in to unmask] if you would like us to include details
of opportunities for further degrees on these pages.
Noticeboard also accommodates information about research studentships and
postdoctoral research - you can link to this from the postgraduate page at

** ATHENS workshop - fully booked
------------------------------
The forthcoming ATHENS workshop, on the 26th March 1998 at Loughborough
University, is now fully booked. All delegates who have already booked
should have received confirmation of their places.
If you've missed out on the Loughborough event don't worry ! We are
planning another workshop for the summer (June or July). Further details
about the date and venue for this next workshop will be made available
after Easter (for distribution to all ATHENS Administrators as well as the
wider readership of NISS Advisor).
