University of Greenwich Medway University Campus SCHOOL OF EARTH & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS (Ref 49:16) The School wishes to appoint a motivated GIS specialist to join its team of GIS and Remote Sensing staff. The postholder would contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and work with the current team to develop research and consultancy to advance the activities of the University's Centre for GIS and Remote Sensing based within the School. Prospective candidates will have programming experience and expertise in Avenue, Visual Basic, Visual C++, experience of database management systems and software experience of at least two of the following software packages: ArcInfo, Arcview, ERDAS Imagine and ERMapper. An interest in data visualisation, 3-D modelling and Internet GIS would also be an advantage. Candidates should also have a strong and developing research profile and a keen interest in developing contract research and/or consultancy. A flair for innovative teaching methods is essential.
