I think that to compare anything with 'the works of 
Shakespeare' is a daunting task, it really depends on what 
texts you mean, for instance; The Sonnets and Liberty 
Valance? The Merry Wives of Windsor and Young Mr Lincoln?

Also, I would advocate some serious research on Oedipus Rex 
when comparing it to Oedipal narratives of any kind. 
Speaking from my own experience!
