Andrew Duncan, not for the first time, has published an article which argues by assertion and, btw, breaks off to personally insult a number of poets incl. especially Bill Griffiths... The article was published by Tim Fletcher's First Offense... I wrote to TF demanding he publish my response... He refused but published a circular attacking me and others who had complained... I responded to TF and published my response on the list... I was "reprimanded" for publishing a personal debate... Some people supported me, especially backchannel; many, incl backchannel said they didn't like arguments and it was none of their business... Things have been hampered because FO is not well distributed... It has been suggested that we should engage with the serious debate that AD wants - I doubt if he wants any kind of serious debate except one on the glories of himself It seems that v few are willing to do anything about it - not that I have any suggestions - and few of them are willing to say so publicly L -----Original Message----- From: Jon Corelis <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]> Date: 22 November 1998 21:16 Subject: Signed, Puzzled | For the benefit of those of us who came in late, could somebody |please post a plain, objective, one paragraph account of what Andrew |Duncan did and why it has led to the present epidemic of twisted |knickers? | |______________________________________________________ |Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lawrence Upton's website: http://members.spree.com/sip/lizard/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "WORD SCORE UTTERANCE CHOREOGRAPHY in verbal and visual poetry" edited by Bob Cobbing and Lawrence Upton Writers Forum, London, 1998; 156 pp; ISBN 0 86162 750 4 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
