Must have dozed through the announcements of the Governer General Awards
nominees for 1998, so a belated word on this:
up for poetry are Michael Ondaatje's "Handwriting" & Lisa Robertson's
"Debbie: An Epic".
In that lacuna between lines 581 & 582 where you see "filius flunks" you
will find, by flipping the pages backwards, on the opposite blank page
"filia kicks ass".  Well, wouldn't that be grand?  None of this makes
"Debbie" any better than it already is, but it will gather some new
readers.  As for winning: Robin Blaser's "The Holy Forest" was nominated
a couple of years ago.  Robert Hilles won.  Who?
And now: Allen Fisher for the OBE?
