Speaking as a supporter many positions supported by Fredric Jameson - who wrote much in defence of Adorno - I want to distance mysef from _everything_ Adorno wrote about music. He seeks to ex-nominate his position as Guardian and denigrate everything he sees as "formula" this and crap that. As Frank Zappa said: everything is written to a formula and its a sap that doesn't know this. Why can't the pauses in _I got you Under My skin_ played on Radio 4 this morning not be as wonderful as those in Mozart's 40th Symphony or his quintets?
