Upon Noticing Dropped
Apostrophes In Contractions

Apparently there's a scarcity on apostrophes. Please don't panic.

Perhaps there's an attempt in progress to make language less
self-possessive. More outgoing.

Or is that the apostrophe has lost its popularity? I have always felt a
special kinship with apostrophes. It troubles me deeply that apostrophes
aren't given their proper due. I respect apostrophes.

As indication of plural or parts missing I should think the apostrophe
indispensable. Indeed, the whole idea of the apostrophe to indicate what is
missing I find rather poignant and sad. A tiny epitaph of sorts.

The loss of the apostrophe. Unthinkable. Discarded like an old relic cast
out.

It's though a wild hair has been plucked from the head of the english
language;
and now bare as a baby's butt upon a bearskin the english language must go
about its dirty business on its own.
