The noise you can hear in the background is, I suspect, Chris, as onlie begetter (but by no means copyright holder) of this wheeze, grinding his teeth as his mild but practical lets-look-into-this suggestion gets run up into a series of 120-300pp books, from a standing start. And since he's well-placed to have a reasonable familiarity with the mechanics of the book world, he may understandably feel that some of the advice flopping around, though well-intentioned, resembles grandmaternal egg-sucking instruction.
