This Conference is designed to examine Pressure Groups from 
various viewpoints, including:

* the reflections of a well-known parliamentarian and 
  broadcaster on being subjected to all that pressure 
  (Dr Austin Mitchell, Member of Parliament for Great 
  Grimsby)
* the methods, successes and failures of a leading British 
  Pressure Group (John Wadham, Director, Liberty)
* the creation of records during two local campaigns in 
  Beverley and East Yorkshire (Richard Wilson, Visiting 
  Professor, Northwestern University and Pressure Group 
  activist)
* how archives of all types can be used in support of a 
  continuing campaign (Donald Lee, WEA Tutor and Pressure 
  Group activist)
* the historical impact of one Pressure Group on the 
  development of the National Health Service (Dr John 
  Stewart, Senior Lecturer, Oxford Brookes University)
* issues connected with looking after Pressure Group 
  archives (Brian Dyson, Archivist, the University of Hull, 
  and Christine Woodland, Archivist, the University of 
  Warwick)
