Applications are invited from well qualified applied statisticians for
the post of

LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN STATISTICS

Applicants should have an interest in the industrial applications of
statistical methods, such as design of experiments, statistical process
control or reliability.  A strong research background or potential is
required.  A senior appointment will be available for a candidate with a
good research record and/or industrial experience.

Duties will include teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate
level.  The person appointed will also be expected to contribute to the
development of postgraduate and post-experience courses.  The position
is a continuing appointment, commencing
by 1 January 1999 latest.

The Department has a strong record in mathematical statistics and in
industrial, commercial and financial applied statistics, and is looking
to expand its research and training activities with leading
manufacturing companies.

Statistical Science, Martin Newby, will be pleased to discuss the post
