My batch ran to over 5000 names....We have asked SLC to provide the info electronically. As we input the SLC number into our student record system, we should be able to do an electronic match. What we will be verifying is that the student has enrolled with us. No way, on the basis of the info SLC is providing, can we go into further detail as to whether or not the student is actually "in attendance" -as per the LEA former requirement. We are going to have to watch the SLC on this point as, presumably, these requests will be made on a termly basis. Merely cross-checking withdrawn students against the list will not be sufficient as I suspect we cannot guarantee to have input all withdrawals into our systems -especially not before the 1 December date¬!!! If these lists are not checked thoroughly then the risk of fraud will be considerable. All the more reason for the SLC to consult us. I suppose it will not come as too much of a shock if in due course we receive a notice by way of a "direction" under the Teaching & Higher Education Act imposing a statutory obligation for us to do the SLC's bidding in this respect... -----Original Message----- From: Kathy Antoszkiw <[log in to unmask]> To: admin-student <[log in to unmask]> Date: 10 December 1998 11:32 Subject: RE: Student Loans Company - Course and t > > >I (and presumably other institutions) have just received a letter from the SLC requesting confirmation of continued attendance for 1262 students!
