The Sheffield Discipline Regulations limit the right of appeal to three grounds - basically they are 1. material procedural irregularity, 2. new evidence of which the student could not have reasonably known and 3. the penalty being too severe. However, we have a safety valve in that our VC can require an appeal to be heard if the original decision is thought to be unsafe or unsatisfactory.
