On the matter of "great" poetry, judging poetry's merit, I should say it's
rather like wild game one has caught. In deer and elk, one counts the
"points" on the antlers. In fish, one weighs the fish. The fight and the
hunt for the wild thing of course increases the merit of the catch.

Fox or elk or lion. Depending on the poet's aim.

One goes to their house and it's mounted on the wall for all to admire.

Or a pelt one hangs about from one's waist.
