Project Officers (2 Posts) Salary: UK pounds 17,293 - 24,919 pa inclusive The British Library of Political and Economic Science is assembling a small project team to implement two major electronic information systems projects, HEADLINE and DECOMATE II, funded respectively by the eLib programme of the HEFCE Joint Information Systems committee and the European Telematics for Libraries programme. Post 1: HEADLINE - 3 year fixed term We are looking for someone to join the project team with the main focus of their work on HEADLINE, a joint project with the London Business School and the University of Hertfordshire. The aim of the project is to develop and implement a model for the hybrid library, based on a common, user-dependent interface to a range of electronic and print information resources. You will take the lead role in identifying user requirements of the service; research and develop the range of information resources available to the project; play a key role in negotiations with electronic copyright holders; carry out a user evaluation study and assist in publicising the project both within the project sites and widely throughout the UK academic community. Post 2: DECOMATE - 1 year fixed term The main focus of your work will be on the DECOMATE II project, being carried out in conjunction with partners in Europe and the UK - providing our library users with access to copyright materials in electronic form. You will assist with publicising the service and with recruiting a user group to participate in its evaluation; carry out a user evaluation study; and partricipate in copyright negotiations with electronic publishers. You will also contribute to the regular activities of the Information Services and collection Development team, including assisting with public enquiry work and helping to develop electronic information services. For either post, you must be able to demonstrate ; * knowledge and understanding of electronic information sources and an awareness of their significance for research and teaching / electronic copyright issues; * excellent IT, communication and team-working skills; * the ability to work with a minimum of supervision after training and to meet tight deadlines; * a commitment to the delivery of a high quality library and information service. You must be a graduate with a qualification in librarianship or information science, at least one years experience in a library/information service and must be IT literate.
