An international two-day non-residential conference
organised by JISC, CNI, BLRIC, CAUSE and CAUL
and coordinated by UKOLN
at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, London
Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 June 1997
Cost: 140 pounds sterling per delegate
This international conference, which carries the overall theme of
Realising The Digital Library, will include speakers from the United
States and the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands and
Germany.
In addition to keynote addresses given by Michael Fitzgerald (Thames
Valley University) and Donald Langenberg (University of Maryland System),
there are four main sessions on:-
(1) The Dynamics of the Information Market
(2) Copyright/Intellectual Property Rights: an international update
(3) Lifelong Lelarning in the Context of the Digital Library and
Re-engineering the Learning Process
(4) Digital Library Plans for European National Libraries: the example of
Britain, Germany and the Netherlands
and parallel sessions on:-
(1) Digital Library Coalition and European Union Projects
The Electronic Libraries Programme
The Digital Library in Japan
(2) Quality Management of Internet Resources; Report on Information
Fatigue
The Information Profession and Information Professionals
(3) CNI Project: Assessment of Network Services & Systems
Evaluation of the Electronic Libraries Programme
Metadata - Policy Level Issues for Implementation (with speakers
from the UK, the US and Australia)

The closing date for booking is Monday 2 June 1997. Cancellations after
this date will incur a cancellation fee of 50 pounds sterling, though a
substitute delegate is acceptable.
