POPFEST `97
THE CONFERENCE FOR POSTGRADUATES IN THE POPULATION FIELD
8-9 July 1997

Each year, postgraduates in the United Kingdom from the population
field meet to discuss their research at a workshop & conference event,
POPFEST, the Population Festival. Last year's conference was held at
the Migration Unit at Swansea's Geography Department. This year, it is
the turn of the Sir David Owen Population Centre to host the event,
which will take place on the 8th & 9th July, 1997.
If you are, or have recently been, a postgraduate student and would
like to attend this event, either as a contributor or delegate, please
read the rest of this e-mail, and print off and return a copy of the
application form.

CALL FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS
GUIDELINES FOR PAPERS
. Papers should not exceed 20 minutes in length. There will be 10
minutes for questions. Please note that this timing will be strictly
adhered to.
. Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words in length.
. A slide projector, overhead projector and flip chart will be
provided.
. The closing date for abstracts is May 5th.
(Please note that you will receive confirmation that your paper has
been accepted for inclusion in our programme by May 20th)
GUIDELINES FOR POSTERS
. The Customary practice with poster presentations is that while you
are not expected to make a formal verbal presentation, you will be
expected to answer any questions raised by delegates who express an
interest in your work
. Your poster will be displayed during the intervals between sessions.
. Posters will be mounted on free-standing noticeboards which are 46
by 46.
. Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words in length
