I attempted to spark a discussion on this some time back. When we (Dave Laycock & myself) set up the list it was hoped that traffic would grow such that specific topics could support lists of their own. When I aired this suggestion the majority of the responses were against it However, in the meantime I suggested that key words could be put in the title such as TECH, DSA, POLICY, DYS, MISC etc. Only a few people responded to me on this subject. Mailers like Pegasus can then filter messages on this basis. (I use this facility to move all the failed delivey messages to a folder on my machine, while on Daves machine it is used to automatically delete them.) One problem is that discussions often evolve to take in different issues which you may miss if you're ignoring a particular keyword. I'm less interested in the non-techie issues, but I glance at all messages to see if I can learn or suggest something. If it's really getting too much, you can examine the messages on the web. See http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists-a-e/dis-forum/archive.html It is usually one day behind, so can make active participation more difficult.
