Subject: Supporting autistic students
Reply-to: [log in to unmask]

Skill has recently received an enquiry from a careers adviser who wants to find
HE institutions that have experience of supporting students with autism. Has
anyone any suggestions?

Nottingham has at least one graduate with asperger syndrome, and at
least one applicant. We have a present student who was excluded from
school at the age of eight for whom the LEA is providing DSA for
substantial human support. The condition varies in severity. The
start of the course, when people queue and do not know where they
should be going may be particularly stressful, and it would be
desirable to make special arrangements.
