That it happens to be religious is beside the point?  Isn't that like
saying of Adorno, "that it happens to be political.." - in reading such
poetry "for the poetry", deliberately irrespective of its principal
connectedness, what is read exactly?  Though of course I agree, the dear
sirs are eminently to be skipped over.  Still I maintain, the publishing
houses are thumb-in-pie: it's hardly as wallet-catching, seeing in your
mandatory back-cover bio that your provinvial intellectual is a
Christian, than it is to see, say, probation officer exthug or whatever..
this of course reflects broader shifts, but is itself part of them and
more properly over- than underestimated I reckon
