Keston raises good points but they can be answered, I think (though not by me right now because I'm off to Bloomington, Indiana to do some lectures--not on LP, by the way, but on Duchamp and Beckett. So just a word about transparency. The LPs and related poets are not "against" all earlier poetry--which would be absurd--but the particular form of transparency that is now the dominant mode in "magazine" poetry. Straightforward, beginning-middle-end-- "Yesterday I went to the market..." poetry. Much too complicated to deal with the dialectic here but there really is one. More later...
