The University of Salzburg publish Fred Beake's new book `Places and Elegies' on December 15 1997 at a price of UKP 8.95. The book is 136 pages including various notes and is a selection of poems and translations from the last five years, since the publication of the `Whiteness of Her Becoming' in 1992. Fred Beake edits the `Poet's Voice'. In `Places and Elegies' there is a new preoccupation with landscape, based on observation of actual places, some love poems, some exploration of the possibilities of the short poem, and some cartoon-like satirical pieces. There is also a wide ranging selection of translations from the Latin and Greek, some of which have been published in well known magazines such as Stand, or major anthologies.
