CALL FOR PAPERS -- CALL FOR PAPERS -- CALL FOR PAPERS -- CALL FOR PAPERS

University of Bristol, Centre for Medieval Studies

1997 Read-Tuckwell Lectures and Conference, 18-21 August 1997

********** MEDIEVAL FUTURES: LOOKING TO THE FUTURE, 1000-1500 **********

The Centre for Medieval Studies wishes to examine, in a broader approach,
the ways in which people in the Middle Ages viewed and prepared for the
future. This would encompass, for example, notions that were effectively
believed to be (or ought to be) permanent, and how people acted or planned
in accord with their perceptions. The desired effect of the papers is to
allow medievalists of various fields and approaches to view their own
research in new ways after participating in the conference.

Keynote Lecturers include:
Piero Boitani (Rome)
E.A.R. Brown (New York)
Roberta Gilchrist (Reading)
Jacqueline Hamesse (Louvain-la-Neuve)
Christiane Klapisch-Zuber (Paris)
Richard Landes (Boston)
Phyllis Roberts (New York)
Jean-Claude Schmitt (Paris)
