Flowers--s

Thanks for the suggestion about the Catholic church relics. If you have the
name of the church, I'd appreciate having that. And I'll write to them
about the relics.

And to Brian, Sally, Arthur, Jim, David, Mark, Otfried, Tom Prendergast, Tom
Izbecki, Nina, Bill, Norman, and Laurel--all of whom also responded to my
original query--thanks very much for what is now quite anice list of books
and articles and addresses.

One additional piece of information that I've come across is another sitle
[make that "site"] of some Becket relics--Sens. In Henry Shaw's _Dresses and
Decorations of the Middle Ages_, vol. 1 (London: William Pickering, 1843)
[it has unnumbered pages] there is a plate that shows a mitre and an amice
worn by Becket when he was in Sens where he "attended for a short time on
the pope." There is a description of these garments and where they are
preserved, I noted on my notecard--but being shortsighted when I made this
note more than 10 years ago, I didn't take that information down.

Thanks again to everyone!

Laura
