I have a question about St Francis of Assisi. Does any one know the source of an anecdote inwhich St Francis gets off his donkey (or mule) and walks beside it to give it a rest? Or perhaps he makes a muleteer (or donkey driver) spare his beast? I'm not sure if I'm remembering this or just making it up, and would appreciate assistance. .
