        In a foreword of 1525 concerning the palinodic poetry, I find some
references to persons who, in th O.T. and in the Acts of the Apostles,
teared to pieces their garments, in sign of wrath and desolation. There is
no explanation of the figure, and I wonder if it is an allusive glimpse to
the seamless garment of the Christ, and the beginnings of the Reform which
torned it. Do you know when this figure first occurs ? Is it a topos for
every heresy, or something more specific, related whith the Schism or the
Reform ?
