I have always thought of Colloidal Silver (topical antibiotic) simply as
SSD ie. silver sulphadiazine (Silvazine - S&N). It vis made by creating a
colloidal suspension of AgNO3 and Sulphadiazine solutions from my
recollections as a pharmacist 20 years ago!
Maybe there are other colloidal silvers and other uses?

> What is Colloidal Silver?
>
> Colloidal Silver is a pure, all natural substance consisting of pure
> water
> and submicroscopic clusters of the mineral silver. Colloidal Silver is
> manufactured by a non- chemical process where the microscopic particles
> of
> silver are held in suspension by an electromagnetic charge placed on
> each
> particle.
>
> What does colloidal silver do?
>
> Colloidal Silver is a broad spectrum antibiotic. While most antibiotics
> are
> effective against about a half-dozen diseasecausing organisms (germs,
> bacteria, fungi, parasites and some viruses), silver is effective
> against
> over 650 organisms. Colloidal Silver is tasteless, non-toxic to living
> tissue and can be taken orally or applied externally.
>
> Is colloidal silver safe to take?
>
> The Environmental Protection Agency's Poison Control Center reports no
> toxicity listing for Colloidal Silver considering it harmless in any
> concentration. Colloidal Silver is the safest and best all around
> natural
> antibiotic germ-fighter we have.
>
> What is colloidal silver effective against?
>
> Colloidal Silver, has been proven to be useful against many different
> infections and is non-toxic in concentrations of 3 - 5 ppm against all
> species of fungi, bacteria, protozoa, parasites and certain viruses.
> Based
> on laboratory tests, destructive bacteria, virus and fungus organisms are

> What is a colloid?
>
> A colloid is a substance that consists of ultra-fine particles that do
> not
> dissolve but remain in suspension. These ultra-fine particles are larger
> than most molecules but so small they cannot be seen by the naked eye.
> Not
> all brands of Colloidal Silver are true colloids. In a true colloid of
> silver, the ideal size of the silver particles fall within the range of
> 0.005 - 0.015 microns in diameter. These particles are electrically
> charged
> to activate the germicidal quality of the silver and allow the silver
> particles to remain suspended in water.
>
> How does this colloidal silver generator make colloidal silver?
>
> This generator utilizes a electrolysis process which allows extremely
> fine
> silver particles to be suspended in solution by the tiny charge placed
> on
> the particles. This method replaces the need for any chemicals,
> stabilizers
> or proteins and the product can be called a true colloid of silver.
>
> Does particle size matter?
>
> Particle size is a crucial factor. Much of the efficiency of the
> colloidal
> solution depends on the actual size and uniformity of silver particles.
> Particles that are too large are less effective. The preferred particle
> size for optimum results and safety of use should be from 0.005 - 0.015
> microns in diameter.
>
> What about the color of the final product?
>
> A excellant indicator of the quality of Colloidal Silver is the color.
> As
> the size of each silver particle gets larger, the color of the solution
> ranges from yellow to brown to red to gray and black. Colloids of silver
> that are produced using the proper electrolysis method are different
> color
> than the grind or chemically produced colloids, except in the case of
> some
> products that contain artificial food coloring to get the right color.
> The
> ideal form of Colloidal Silver is a clear to light yellow color, which
> in
> part has to do with using ozonated water in the production of the
> colloidal
> silver. It has been reported that using ozonated water will produce the
> smallest silver particles.
>
> Are the higher parts per million like 500 ppm more beneficial?
>
> In the range of 3 - 5 ppm (parts per million), colloidal silver has
> little
> effect on 'friendly' bacteria, while being highly useful against
> infections
> and eliminating various microbes, viruses and fungi. Colloidal Silver
> that
> is too concentrated (above 5 ppm ) may upset the delicate balance of the
> digestive tract by destroying significant amounts of friendly bacteria.
>
> What are some modern uses for Colloidal Silver?
>
> Colloidal Silver may be taken orally or put on a Band-Aid and applied
> directly to cuts, scrapes, open sores, warts or used as a rinse for
> acne,
> eczemas and other skin irritations. It may be gargled, dropped into eyes
> or
> ears, used vaginally, anally, atomized or inhaled into the nose or
> lungs.
> It is also believed effective against: Staphylococcus, B.Coli, Bladder,

> Does colloidal silver have any effect on cancer cells?
