We had a patient with hypotension supposedly causing repeated blackouts. She
was put on Fludrocortisone. She continued to complain of multiple symptoms
and have blackouts. Once started, it couldn't easily be stopped. She also had
normal adrenal function before treatment. She was mentally very strange and
the final conclusion was that most of her symptoms were psychological.

I have a patient with a 3 yr history of low blood pressure,
who faints easily and suffers from chronic fatigue.

All investigations have been normal, including tests for
Addisons. Consultant advice is to consider starting
her on a small dose of fludro?cortisone.

I believe that in some European countries, low blood
pressure is considered a clinical entity and is treated
with medication.

Does anyone in GP-UK have experience of this?
What drugs are used, dosage etc.?
