Bit cynical even for me. I didn't start this thread to defend PRS (or
otherwise) get a reaction. In the same vain:

Most Rural pharmacies were killed by dispensing GPs years ago. I'm on
the third glass of red wine and I don't want it diluted with crocodile
tears.

In many ways PRS offers hope for the independants who are unlikely to to
rise to the challanges which face pharmacy on their own. Of course I
speak as an employee of a group who are currently biding to become the
biggest pharmacy chain.

No, The next script is only issued if the patient has collected the last
one and GP authorisation remains in place. The system is quite clever in
predicting on an individual basis when the next PRN script is likely to
be needed and learns as it goes. It certainly does not churn out scripts
automatically each month.

No they can't and PRS say they have no plans to change this. I am
personally of the "hammer, nail, head" point of view on this but such a
change could only occur if GPs agreed to it.

PRS have done a credible job and have many of the angles covered, but I
still struggle to see the benefits to GPs or patients and would welcome
help in deciding if AAH Meditel should provide an interface, which at
the end of the day depends if our customers want one.
