Exactly. ABout ten years ago, Zerox automated their Santa Clara sales
office completely - it was an early experiment in the `paperless office'.
Within a week it ground to a halt. The reason was that the system wouldn't
let people change documents once they had been signed. So if you got the
boss to sign a purchase order for 10 widgets and the supplier had 8, you
had to go back to square one
