I had to share this one. Consultation this morning. 80-odd year old brought by family because not looking after herself. <Thinks> .... Time for a mini mental state. She coped OK until we got to serial 7's when she didn't appear to understand the question. In an attempt to make the issue clearer I said "If you go into a shop and buy something costing seven pence and you give them one pound, how much change do you get?"
