What on earth do you need computers for?

There are a number of countries where if your GP wants to refer you he
picks up the phone and books you in for next Wednesday while you are
actually sitting there in his surgery with your diary out.

It is vastly preferable from the patient's point of view and saves the
doctor time too.

But if you can't get the hospital to give you a booking for next Wednesday
by phone, what makes you think that they'll do it with a less urgent medium
such as email?
