Hi all

This is a reminder Sense about Science are running a Standing up for Science workshop for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) on Thursday 11th April at Norwich Research Park, as part of our Voice of Young Science network and applications will be closing soon!

The workshop is FREE for STEM and social science ECRs, trainees, and medical professionals. The workshop aims to build the confidence and skills of ECRs to engage in the public discourse around science, research, and the research process by bringing together researchers, media, and policy professionals to share their insights and expertise. The day ends with a practical session on how best to communicate some of the most complex issues of science and evidence and where the public conversation about science can go wrong.

Please could you share the webpage and application form with your ECR networks and encourage them to apply - the deadline for applications is Friday 5th April. I’ve also included some text below that can be distributed in an email and here is a suggested tweet that can be used to promote the workshop:

Do you want to learn how to effectively engage with the media, understand how evidence is used by policymakers, and confidently communicate your research? Sense about Science are hosting their Standing up for Science workshop on 11 April, 10:00-16:00 at Norwich Research Park.

As part of the Voice of Young Science, a network of 4000+ of Early Career Researchers from across the UK and Europe, this workshop encourages early career researchers (ECRs) to make their voices heard in public debates about science. During this in person event, ECRs meet scientists who have engaged with the media and learn from respected science journalists, hear from policymakers on how to inform policy.

To apply for a free place, fill out the application form by Friday 5th April.
