Pioneering female prehistorians in the central Mediterranean before the Second World War,
workshop organised by the Accordia Research Institute and the University of Nottingham

  • Paola Zancani Montuoro and Eleonora Bracco: two pioneers from the Italian Archaeological School at Athens to fieldwork in Magna Graecia (Marco Bettelli)
  • Struggles and adversities of a pioneering female prehistorian: the unpublished correspondence of Johanna Mestorf (1828-1909) held at the Archiginnasio of Bologna (Fabio Saccoccio)
  • Elisa Baumgärtel, a life at the intersection (Mark Pearce & Giulia Recchia)
