About Alumni UK

Alumni UK is the global network for people from around the world who have studied in or with the UK as an overseas student. Launched by the British Council in 2022, Alumni UK brings together international UK alumni to grow their global professional network, continue learning and share their experience and expertise. By joining Alumni UK, individuals gain access to exclusive resources to develop their careers and opportunities to help them succeed. All international UK alumni from any UK university, on any course, from any year, are encouraged to join. This includes alumni of transnational or online education courses.

The four desired outcomes of the programme are:

-             A sustained cultural connection with the UK in which alumni can become trusted sources of information for the UK HE sector and take advantage of skills development and career progression opportunities.

-             A space for learning, exchange and collaboration that supports UK research internationalisation, enhances UK and in-country development practice and drives progress on Global Challenges.

-             An influence network to support UK strategic aims, sustained by alumni who return to their country and continue engaging with other alumni and their Country Office.

-             A source of valuable insights about alumni, useful for other British Council programmes, the UK government, higher education providers and other key stakeholders.

Eligibility

All international UK alumni from any UK university, on any course, in any year are encouraged to join the Alumni UK digital platform, whether they have studied in the UK or on a UK transnational education programme. They will need to have studied on a credit bearing course for at least one semester.

Reasons for alumni to register

-             Attend exclusive networking events and masterclasses

-             Access resources and opportunities to advance your career

-             Connect with other alumni and grow your professional network

-             Showcase your skills on a global stage

-             Give your CV an edge with free trainings and industry insights

Here’s what we envisage UK HEIs gaining from engaging with the programme:

Opportunity for exposure

-             Upcoming platform access for universities to curate their own content for alumni

-             Opportunity to reconnect with alumni overseas

-             Attracting new prospective students

-             Showcase alumni stories on the global stage

Enhancing support for international alumni

-             The British Council have strong networks in 100+ countries which benefit alumni on their return home.

-             Connect to employers

-             Build professional network

-             Connect with UK government in country

Access to insights

-             Large alumni database enables British Council to conduct largescale research and share insights with the sector

We will be reaching out to all UK higher education institutions within the next month or so with guidance on how to create a university page on the Alumni UK platform.
