The South African Research Chair in Science Communication, The Academic Citizen and the South African Journal of Science jointly host the virtual symposium Sound Matters: Interdisciplinary Explorations Into Audio Knowledge Production. The Symposium unites and delves into interdisciplinary viewpoints regarding how audio as a medium presents fresh opportunities for shaping, expressing, and distributing academic and scientific knowledge. Additionally, it is intrigued by the increasing awareness of audio and its interplay with text, paving the way for exciting collaborations spanning various fields of study.

The Symposium will take place between 9-10 November 2023 from 9 AM – 2:30 PM (SAST) and will cover a range of themes including:
