“Border Art” Database archiving + Borders Survey analysis: 5 months Paid Internship in Geography and/or Contemporary Art History Grenoble Alpes University / <https://www.pacte-grenoble.fr/en> Pacte Research center Summary: Are you passionate about contemporary art? Join our team effort to compile and document an extensive world database on art dealing with international borders, also known as “Border Art”? Full advertisement: We offer a newly created internship position in our Border Art archive project and are looking for someone combining rigor in multidimensional data collection and interest for contemporary art and border studies. 1. Tasks and Responsibilities * 1. The intern will help document our 700+ entries database with the many missing pieces of information regarding the selected works, and compile more entries. * 1. As of now the information is aggregated within an excel spreadsheet, data management to transfer the information into a more specific tool would be appreciated. * 1. A border survey has been conducted within an art institution, in the form of paper questionnaires: a secondary task will be to transfer the answers in an electronic format and proceed to their analysis. 2. Selection Criteria * Master 1 or 2 level, with qualification in Research Methods, specifically quantitative and qualitative data analysis, archiving techniques and bibliographical instruments. Training in art history is a plus. The candidate should at least demonstrate personal interest in that field. * English and French proficiency is mandatory. Other languages are welcome. * The selection process will insist upon the candidate’s previous experience in demonstrating rigor and working autonomy in the management of data within social sciences. 3. Benefits to Students and working conditions Monthly : 4.05/hour, i.e. between €567 and €623/month (7 hours per day, depending on the number of working days per month = about €3000 in total). Duration : 5 months. Starting date : As soon as possible, negotiable. Place of work: Hybrid mode between the Institut d’Urbanisme et de Géographie Alpine / Pacte research Center, Université Grenoble Alpes. France (14 ave. Marie Reynoard, 38100 Grenoble) and the intern’s eventual place of residence. Pacte is a research center in social sciences (UMR 5194) of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, Grenoble-Alpes University, and the Grenoble School of Political Studies. It is a multidisciplinary research center structured around 5 disciplines: political science, geography, urban planning, sociology and economics. It has 110 researchers and 123 PhD students. The recruited person will work full-time (7 hours daily, 20 days monthly), for a period of 5 months, at the Pacte research center in Grenoble, which hosts most of the project's members. He or she will be provided with a shared office while at Pacte when in Grenoble.
