There is still a week left to apply for the post of Archives Officer at Tyne & Wear Archives, based at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaged archive professional for a full time, permanent role as an Archives Officer.

This role will deliver a full range of professional archive duties including collections management, collections access, digital delivery and engagement and outreach.

The salary is £32,020 - £35,411 per annum (with a pay award pending).

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in an archive environment, good team working, digital and communications skills and a commitment to excellent customer service. This role is an ideal opportunity to develop as an archive professional in a varied, challenging and busy working environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Tyne & Wear Archives. Based at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle, one of the largest free museums in the north of England, our collections are a typical mix of public authority and private material from across the 5 districts of the former Tyne & Wear. We have a particular strength in industrial heritage and our shipbuilding collections are designated as of national and international significance and were also added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World register in 2013. We have recently retained our Accredited Archive status and are involved in a number of innovative projects whilst running a busy searchroom service.

We are a small, friendly team who are part of the larger Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums service, which allows us exciting opportunities to work on shared projects with museum colleagues. Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service. We manage nine sites in the North East of England including 4 museums, 3 art galleries and 2 Roman forts.

We offer a competitive salary and pension, a generous annual leave allowance and professional development opportunities.
