Apologies for cross posting but we hope that this visit is of interest to archivists as well as rare book librarians.

The CILIP Rare Books and Special Collections Group are pleased to offer a rare opportunity to visit one of the finest private collections of books and manuscripts in the world at Wormsley Library.

Date: 20th April 2023

Time: 1-2.30pm

Location: Wormsley Estate, Buckinghamshire, HP14 3YE

Price: £20 (free minibus transfer from High Wycombe station)

Sir Paul Getty spent 25 years assembling this outstanding collection featuring the first edition of Caxton’s printing of The Canterbury Tales, Anne Boleyn’s Psalter and the first folio of Shakespeare’s “Comedies, Histories and Tragedies”. Other highlights include manuscripts dating from the 12th to the 15th Century, important Bibles and extraordinary modern bindings. The library is opened to a very small number of private tours each year and the Rare Books and Special Collections Group has been successful in securing one of these much coveted spots for a reduced rate.

For those travelling by train there will be a free minibus transfer from High Wycombe station at 12.30pm.
